On Friday night, March 26th, the Yale International Students'
Organization hosted Lumina, the annual cultural extravaganza
that regularly fills the SSS auditorium to a standing room only capacity.
This year was no exception: a dozen Yale cultural groups contributed to the
show, providing skits, videos, dance numbers, and the comedic stylings of
MCs Chris Brown and Imran Bhaloo. The innovative Yale music group SIC InC
opened the evening with amplified chamber music to set the stage and the
electric atmosphere.
For the 10th year anniversary of the show, ISO pulled out all the stops, inviting dance numbers by the Yale Belly Dance Society, Rhythmic Blue, Konjo!, Groove, and more. In between acts, several videos showcased diversity from around the world. One clip brought the audience around the islands of Indonesia, accompanied by traditional Gamelan music, with the video provided by the ISFA@Yale. Both the freshman and senior classes featured their top talents, giving both a taste of what's to come in future years and a last hurrah for this year's graduates. The festivities continued well into the night, with a Post Lumina Reception at the Downtown at Tafts also drawing the crowd...
